About the Book:
Ghosts of Honolulu: A Japanese Spy, a Japanese American Spy Hunter, and the Untold Story of Pearl Harbor by Mark Harmon and Leon Carroll is a non-fiction historical espionage book that uncovers the covert world of intelligence work in Hawaii leading up to and during the attack on Pearl Harbor. It intertwines the true stories of two central figures: Douglas Wada, the only Japanese-American naval intelligence agent in Hawaii, and Takeo Yoshikawa, a Japanese spy sent to gather crucial information on the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Through their contrasting roles, the book explores high-stakes naval counterintelligence, racial tensions, and the shadowy “cat-and-mouse” games between spies and counter-spies on the eve of World War II.
